Is the plugin really free?
Yes. SwapAds runs on pure barter during the early adopters phase — no prices, no plans, no payment methods. You exchange backlinks with partners instead of paying for them.
Does SwapAds modify my existing content?
No. The client only renders backlinks where you explicitly place the swapads/backlinks block or the [swapads_backlinks] shortcode. Nothing else on your site changes.
How long until I get my first partner backlink?
Most sites receive their first suggestion within 24 hours of setup. Approval is manual — you choose which partners to work with.
What happens if I deactivate the plugin?
The SwapAds server is notified within seconds and your license pauses. Partner backlinks stop displaying on your site. Your data is retained for 90 days, so reactivating is seamless.
Is SwapAds GDPR-compliant?
Yes. No third-party tracking is added to your site. The only data sent to the SwapAds server is your site URL, your declared audience, and the HTTP metadata required for API authentication.
My niche is adult, iGaming, or cannabis — is that supported?
Yes. Adult, iGaming, and cannabis are first-class niches with dedicated sub-niches. Matching respects niche boundaries — you only see partners in compatible niches.
What are the system requirements?
WordPress 6.5 or newer and PHP 8.1 or newer, on a site that is publicly reachable and indexed.
